EGX ends Sunday in green for 2nd session in row

CAIRO – 12 May 2019: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) ended Sunday in green for the second consecutive session, adding LE 2.8 billion to market capitalization, mid Egyptian purchases.

The benchmark EGX30 rose 0.44 percent, or 62.1 points, to close at 14,122.1 points.

The equally weighted index EGX50 hiked 1.02 percent, or 21.57 points, to reach 2,138.09 points.

The small and mid-cap index EGX70 climbed 0.22 percent, or 1.34 points, to close at 622.16 points, and the broader index EGX100 increased 0.27 percent, or 4.27 point, to 1,584.05 points.

Market capitalization gained LE 2.86 billion, recording LE 768.86 billion, compared to LE 765.99 billion in Thursday’s session.

The trading volume reached 68.62 million shares, traded through 10,377 transactions, with a turnover of LE 244.86 million.

Egyptian investors were net buyers at LE 7.79 million, while Arab and foreign investors were net sellers at LE 5.3 million, and LE 2.49 million, respectively.

Egyptian and Arab individuals were net sellers at LE 4.88 million, and LE 6.63 million, respectively, while foreign individuals were net buyers at LE 1.3 million, respectively.

Egyptian and Arab organizations bought at LE 12.68 million, and LE 1.33 million, respectively, while foreign organizations sold at LE 3.79 million.

Maridive& oil services, Arab Polvara Spinning and Weaving Co., and Egyptian Transport (EGYTRANS) were top gainers of the session by 9.23 percent, 7.83 percent and 7.51 percent, respectively.

Meanwhile, Reacap Financial Investments, Cairo for Investment and Real Estate Development, and Cairo Pharmaceuticals were top losers of the session by 10 percent, 5.09 percent, and 4.92 percent, respectively.

On Thursday, EGX ended trading in green, as EGX30 rose0.24 percent, EGX50 inched up0.09 percent, EGX70 hiked0.26 percent, and EGX100 increased 0.28 percent.
