Norwegian seismic duo teams up for offshore surveys in Canada

Norwegian seismic companies TGS and PGS have teamed up to conduct two multi-client seismic surveys the North Tablelands 3D and the Southeast Grand Banks 2019 2D in the Atlantic Ocean offshore Canada.

The North Tablelands 3D survey, to be acquired by PGS’ vessel Ramform Atlas, will cover approximately 5,000 km(2) and together with the 2018 Tablelands 3D survey, spans most of the open acreage included in the November 2020 bid round. The project is expected to start in early June 2019.

Southeast Grand Banks 2019 2D will comprise of approximately 13,300 km primarily covering open acreage in upcoming bid rounds in South Eastern Newfoundland (2021) and Southern Newfoundland (2022). It will be acquired with MV Sanco Atlantic and the seismic survey is expected to begin in early June 2019.

We will continue to prioritize this high potential region and look forward to playing a vital role in future developments,” said Kristian Johansen, CEO, TGS.

The companies have said that following this ninth consecutive season of data acquisition offshore East Canada, the jointly-owned library will have approximately 48,000 square kilometers of 3D GeoStreamer data and more than 189,000 line kilometers of 2D GeoStreamer data.

“PGS will take an integrated approach to acquisition and imaging to maximize both the efficiency of the project and the broadband benefits of our GeoStreamer technology.
