The PSA said on Thursday that the audit of the Johan Castberg FPSO turret was conducted on March 13 and 14, 2019.

According to the offshore safety body, the objective of the audit was to ensure that the engineering and fabrication of the turret for FPSO Johan Castberg met the company’s requirements and the requirements in the regulations.

The PSA added that there was a sub-goal of following up how the company performs its supervisory duty in respect of suppliers.

The audit did not identify any non-conformities but noted six improvement points which were related to the company’s follow-up, verification of design, technical responsibility for structures, preparations for operations, management of project execution, and competence management.

The PSA requested feedback from Equinor as well as an assessment of the improvement points observed by May 10, 2019.

The Johan Castberg (formerly Skrugard) field is situated approximately 100 kilometers north of the Snøhvit-field in the Barents Sea. The field will be developed with an FPSO production vessel. The development also includes 30 wells, ten subsea templates, and two satellite structures and will cost around NOK 49 billion.

The 200-meter long FPSO vessel will be producing on the Johan Castberg field for 30 years from the planned production start in 2022.
